Ahmad is the CEO and Founder of VC Fuel, a leading renewables VC firm, and Clean Energy Services (CES), a leading renewables operating company, where he is responsible for leading all aspects of the companies, including driving the company’s strategy and execution with the objective of exceeding the company’s financial and customer targets as well creating a culture of excellence and accountability

Before moving into the clean energy space four years ago, Ahmad had 20 years of experience in oil and gas as a seasoned investor and operating executive who has consistently created outsized returns for his investors and companies over the past two decades. Ahmad was most recently a Managing Director at North Haven Infrastructure Partners, a private equity investment platform with over $12 B in AUM across three funds. He led the fund’s global energy energy busines, including oil and gas upstream, midstream, transition fuels, and renewable energy, where he successfully deployed over $4 B in capital and generated above-market returns.

Prior to joining North Haven Infrastructure Partners, Ahmad was a Managing Director at BlackRock in the Global Private Equity Group, where he led investments in energy and renewables totaling over $1.5 B.

Previously, Ahmad spent over a decade founding and leading operating companies. He founded and built Green Star Energy, a Brazilian sugar cane-to-ethanol production company in 2006, which was sold in 2010 at premium for investors. At Green Star, he helped build and oversee all of the company’s operations, including its agricultural and industrial business units, and managed the company’s commercial and marketing divisions.  

In addition, Ahmad helped build Altra Energy Technologies, an energy and financial services software company that was successfully sold to SunGard Data Systems.

Ahmad began his career at the Boston Consulting Group, where he focused on energy, telecommunications and automotive clients

He received a Bachelors Degree in Economics from Harvard University with the highest distinction and was among 32 Americans selected as a Rhodes Scholar. He also earned a Masters Degree in International Relations from Oxford University.
